Why Do We Host This Tournament?

On July 29th, 2008 our family was changed forever as our cousin/nephew/brother/son lost his battle to childhood cancer at 19 years old. Nick Van Dyk was an amazing individual and lived a life that deserved to be emulated and celebrated. He had a positive attitude in everything he did, cherished his friendships and had a sincere love for others. He was a talented yet modest athlete who loved healthy competition. We were all so blessed to have someone of his character and stature in our family and we hope this event will honour his life and create a change for the future.

Our reasons for continuing to invest in these days are simple;

1.  We want to remember those that we have loved and lost - most notably Nick Van Dyk who this tournament was founded in memory of and Cassie Mann, Amanda Allen, Kate Merner, and Rebecca Kipfer-Pryce who have lost their battle to cancer.

2.  We love that the day is built around community and being in the moment. It is a time for people to connect with friends and family, which is life's best gift.

3.  We want to build awareness of childhood cancer and raise funds to create a future that is cancer free.

Please note this IS NOT a BYOB event; rather a fundraiser for a cause close to our hearts. All donations and proceeds made will be donated to the National Kids Cancer Ride; a registered Canadian charitable foundation that is 100% volunteer based. All the funds will go directly to the cause and add to the $850,000+ we have already raised.

This event has sold out each year so sign up early! You don't miss a fun-filled day of tossing and honouring a life worth celebrating.
